When this incredible couple began planning their engagement session, they knew exactly what they wanted:

The bride traveled from Arizona, while the groom proudly grew up right here in Montana. Together, they wanted their engagement photos

to tell a story—not only about their love for each other, but also about their connection to the place they will soon call home as husband and wife.

Maney Lake, Montana, proved to be the perfect location.

 

Nestled among Montana’s stunning mountain scenery, Maney Lake offered everything they had envisioned and more. The peaceful water reflected

the surrounding mountains, evergreen trees framed the landscape, and a charming bridge added the perfect touch of rustic Montana charm.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this session was going to be something special. The mountains stood tall. The water sparkled.

And their love stole the show.

 

A Surprise Halloween Proposal

Every love story has a beginning, and theirs started with an unforgettable surprise. What seemed like a normal Halloween party quickly turned into one

of the most important days of their lives. Completely unexpected, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. She had no idea it

was coming. The surprise proposal was thoughtful, heartfelt, and perfectly reflected the fun-loving relationship they share.

 

During their engagement session at Maney Lake, we even recreated that special moment beside the water. One of my favorite images from

the evening captured the groom down on one knee while their reflection shimmered across the lake’s surface, creating a beautiful and

meaningful reminder of where their journey together began.

 

Capturing Their Love Story

One of my favorite parts of engagement photography is capturing genuine moments that showcase who a couple truly is together. Throughout the

evening, these two laughed, played, and enjoyed every moment together. We photographed romantic dip-and-kiss poses overlooking the lake,

playful piggyback rides through the mountains, twirls along the shoreline, and a fun “sneak attack” moment where the groom came up behind his

bride-to-be, lifted her into the air, and spun her around while she laughed. The connection they share is effortless. The way they look at each other

speaks volumes. Every smile, every embrace, and every laugh told part of their story.

 

Personalized Details That Made This Session Unique

I love incorporating meaningful details into engagement sessions whenever possible. For this session, I created a custom label featuring their names

and wedding date, adding a personalized touch that celebrated the exciting journey leading to their wedding day. I also incorporated a beautiful

wine bottle, matching wine glasses, their engagement ring, and a custom ring box. The ribbons tied around the bottle perfectly matched their wedding

colors, creating thoughtful details that connected their engagement session to the wedding day they are eagerly anticipating. The bride looked stunning

in a beautiful rhinestone-covered long-sleeved top that coordinated with her wedding colors with the dress she wore, while the groom’s classic blue

button-down shirt complemented the natural Montana scenery perfectly. Every detail was intentional and meaningful. Reflections, Mountains, and Montana

Magic. As the evening continued, the calm water at Maney Lake created some of the most beautiful reflections I’ve ever photographed.

Several images captured the couple standing along the shoreline while their reflections mirrored them perfectly in the water. Combined with the mountains,

evergreen trees, and golden evening light, the reflections added a romantic and artistic element that made these photographs truly unforgettable.

We finished part of the session relaxing on a blanket beside the lake, sharing wine, laughter, and quiet moments together while taking in the beauty of the

Montana landscape around them. These slower moments often become the most meaningful because they allow couples to simply enjoy being together

without worrying about anything else.
