A Dream Come True: Photographing My Sister&rsquo;s Love Story at Glacier National Park

There are some moments in life that feel like pure magic, and photographing my sister&rsquo;s love story at Glacier National Park was one of those unforgettable chapters. As a Montana wedding photographer, Glacier has always been one of my dream locations for engagement photos, surprise proposals, and elopements. The sheer beauty of the mountains, the turquoise lakes, and the untouched wildland create the perfect backdrop for couples who want their photos to feel timeless, emotional, and alive.

But this wasn&rsquo;t just any session&mdash;this one was deeply personal.
&nbsp;
A Surprise Proposal at Lake McDonald
&nbsp;
My sister&rsquo;s proposal took place at Lake McDonald, one of Glacier National Park&rsquo;s most iconic and breathtaking locations. The mirror-still water, colorful rocks, endless mountain reflections&mdash;it was straight out of a dream. When her now-fianc&eacute; dropped to one knee, everything felt still except the beating of our hearts. I had the honor of capturing that moment, every teary smile and every embrace reflected in the glistening lake.
&nbsp;
Shortly after, my sister turned to me and asked the question I will remember forever:
&nbsp;
&ldquo;Will you be my Matron of Honor?&rdquo;
&nbsp;
My answer was an immediate and emotional yes.
&nbsp;
This moment sparked the idea of planning a trip back to Glacier to photograph their pre-wedding session, and that journey led us to some of the most stunning locations in the entire park.
&nbsp;
Running Eagle Falls: Where the Adventure Began
&nbsp;
Our first stop was Running Eagle Falls, a serene and powerful location tucked into the Two Medicine area. The sound of the waterfall echoing through the trees created the perfect atmosphere for their romantic portraits. The lush greens, rushing water, and towering cliffs made every image feel like a page from a storybook.

As a Glacier National Park wedding and elopement photographer, Running Eagle Falls quickly became one of my top recommended locations for couples who want a mix of adventure and romance without a strenuous hike.

Two Medicine: Reading Vows Surrounded by Mountains
&nbsp;
Next, we traveled to Two Medicine, one of the most striking and underrated regions in all of Glacier National Park. The mountains feel impossibly large, the water impossibly blue, and the silence impossibly calming.
&nbsp;
Here, surrounded by the raw beauty of Montana, they exchanged personal vows&mdash;an intimate moment that I was honored to witness through my lens. They read their vows on vintage-style&nbsp;love newspapers, a unique and sentimental touch that added personality to their session.
&nbsp;
Afterward, we celebrated with wine glasses raised high, echoing laughter into the mountains. These are the kinds of candid moments that make destination wedding photography so meaningful&mdash;real emotion, real connection, and real memories frozen in time.

Sun Point: A Blue Hour Masterpiece
&nbsp;
By the time we reached Sun Point, the daylight was slipping behind the mountains. The last golden rays kissed the sky, melting into a moody and magical blue hour. We arrived just in time to catch the tail end of the sunset&mdash;a soft, romantic glow that wrapped this happy couple in warmth.
&nbsp;
Blue hour has a way of bringing out a different kind of magic. The deep blues, the gentle purples, the stillness of evening&mdash;it all created a cinematic ending to a day filled with love, adventure, and breathtaking views.

Every frame from Sun Point felt like a painting.
&nbsp;
A Touching Surprise at the Wedding Reception
&nbsp;
Fast forward to the wedding day.
&nbsp;
While decorating the reception, my sister revealed a surprise for me and everyone else in the room. She had printed and displayed several of the Glacier National Park photos we took during their pre-wedding trip. Seeing those images framed and glowing among the florals and candles was incredibly touching. It was a reminder of why I love being a wedding photographer: photos become heirlooms, and moments become memories you can hold.

Some weddings feel like they&rsquo;re blessed by the mountains themselves&mdash;and this one at Homestake Lodge in Whitehall, Montana was nothing short of breathtaking. Nestled high above the valley, the views stretched endlessly, wrapping the couple in golden light and rugged Montana beauty.
&nbsp;
And then&hellip; the sky whispered their love story.
&nbsp;
Just as the newlyweds shared their sunset sneak-away, real heart-shaped clouds drifted across the sky, forming one of the most magical scenes I have ever witnessed. It felt as if the world paused to celebrate them&mdash;an unforgettable moment that matched the bond they share as husband and wife.
&nbsp;
Their ceremony was stunning, filled with emotion, laughter, and heartfelt vows. After family photos wrapped up, a soft sprinkle of rain fell&mdash;something I&rsquo;ve always believed is a sign of&nbsp;good luck&nbsp;on a wedding day. The timing couldn&rsquo;t have been more perfect.

As the evening settled in, the couple embraced, surrounded by the glowing Montana sunset. Photographing their love against such a breathtaking backdrop was nothing short of a dream.

The Sky Whispered Their Love Story-A Heart-Shaped Sunset at Homestake Lodge

Last-Minute Change of Plans leads to a breathtaking maternity photo session in Butte, MT

Sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when things don't go exactly as planned. My car decided to overheat so we raced home to grab our truck. I called this beautiful client ready to be available on a moment notice if she couldn't meet me at the new location. Thankfully she was able to met me and the session turned out far better than I could have ever imagined.
&nbsp;
This sweet momma and her adorable little boy made the drive all the way from Helena, MT to Butte, MT for her Maternity session as she awaits the arrival of baby #2. Our original location had a pond and this gorgeous location didn't. I pivoted to this new close spot located in Butte, MT and it is famously called The Big M where fireworks are lit off each 4th of July. I found it fitting with it being July that we could celebrate this special time for them. The sunset showed off in all of its grandeur to highlight her pregnancy as she was sure glowing throughout her entire maternity session.
&nbsp;
Her little guy was the cutest-showing up ready for adventure in his ball cap, water bottle in hand, and even brought his fishing pole along! Even though the new location didn't have a pond for him to fish in, I wanted to make sure this momma still got some extra special memories so I created 6 bonus photos featuring a pond for fishing.
&nbsp;
The way her little boy looked up at her with so much love melted my heart, and it was such a joy to document their connection during this special season of anticipation. You could feel how excited they both are to meet baby sister soon.

I absolutely cannot wait to see this beautiful family again when their baby girl arrives for her newborn session. It's such an honor to be part of these milestones, and I'm grateful they trusted me to capture them.

A Joyful Family Reunion-Near Butte Country Club | Celebrating 80th &amp; 70th Birthdays

There's something incredibly special about witnessing multiple generations coming altogether in one place-especially when it's to celebrate two big milestone birthdays. One family member turned 80 and the other family member turned 70. Much to be celebrated! I couldn't have been more honored to be a part of such a meaningful day.
&nbsp;
Set just outside the Butte Country Club located in Butte, MT we gathered in the scenic surroundings to create lasting portraits that showcased not only the love shared between grandparents, children, and grandchildren. The deep-rooted connection this family holds was amazing to witness behind my lens. It's always amazing to see the legacy of a lifetime reflected in the smiles and hugs of future generations.

We made sure to capture a wide variety of groupings-full extended family portraits, siblings, cousins, and of course, heartfelt moments between the birthday honorees and their grandchildren. The laughter came easy, and the hugs were long. It's clear this family knows just how precious these moments are.

There's something incredibly special about being chosen to document a baby's first days-and this session was extra meaningful. This sweet family made their very first road trip as new parents, traveling all the way from Bozeman, MT to Butte, MT just for their newborn photography session. I'm beyond honored they trusted me with such a tender milestone.

Their beautiful baby girl was a dream to photograph. I gently wrapped her in the softest pinks, and she slept so peacefully through each setup. She opened her eyes only briefly between poses-just enough to give us a glimpse of her sweet personality before drifting back to sleep. Every detail, from her tiny fingers to her button nose, was pure perfection.
